Her subjects, her landscapes, and her poetic "strategies" make Dimoula a close relative of the Polish poet Wislawa Szymobrska (the 1996 Nobel Laureate). With life-sustaining words, they both belong to the chorus of leading European poets on the eve of the twenty - first century; they manage to extract a fragrant oil out of the most ordinary human experiences, expressed with the most unpretentious language. Sixty years ago poets considered themselves the prophetic voices of their nations. Dimoula simply attempts to decipher the inscriptions of "the branches' movements [on] the scattered spring breeze" and she majestically achieves it, for the breeze's sake and for our bliss.
